On Sunday 2 February, I ran as a member of a four person team in a 4 x 5k relay (rather funkily-named as an "urban stampede") with three members of my team at work. Two team members had never run a 5k before so were a little apprehensive (this was possibly compounded by my high aspirations for our team performance, which I had to tone down!) but everyone arrived (vaguely) on time for the 7am start on Sunday morning.
We put in a respectable performance in the end, and were one of the faster teams overall, and the atmosphere was great, with over 100 teams competing.
The Mumbai Police won everything - it was a whitewash. These particularly policemen and policewomen were lean, fast and clearly very fit. Not like the police that we typically see on the street!
We enjoyed a well earned breakfast afterwards and agreed that we'll be entering again next year, but with at least two teams rather than one.

Lining up before the race (Rohan, Jennie, Akshay and Abhimanyu)
A truly urban backdrop
Quite right. No slacking allowed.
Me in action, though I didn't run quickly. It was hot...
but I made it through
On the podium, finished in just over two hours
Enjoying a well deserved breakfast
